Join us for an exclusive members-only “first look” at the History Center’s new Pittsburgh’s John Kane: The Life & Art of an American Workman exhibition on Friday, May 20. Enjoy exclusive access to the gallery and mingle with curators, who will provide a behind-the-scenes perspective on the making of the exhibit, which opens to the public May 21.
Light refreshments available from 11am to 3pm.
The exhibit features 37 original works of art and dozens of artifacts that explore the world of John Kane – a Scottish immigrant and laborer who unexpectedly achieved breakthrough success as a painter of Pittsburgh landscapes, city scenes, and people.
Pittsburgh’s John Kane includes artwork from America’s most prestigious art museums and collectors, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, American Folk Art Museum, Carnegie Museum of Art, The Phillips Collection, and more.
